John McCain warns of an economic depression !
Okay, this is pretty incredible. But in 1991 I interviewed Senator John McCain (it is one of the perks of being a student of history and a writer of books) and there he was, on the record, declaring that we were headed to a depression, not recession, depression, if the government did not reign in spending. It sounded pretty goofy back then. Not anymore.
And I have got it all on You Tube. Check out the link below.
Love him or hate him, John McCain endures as one of one of more reliable prognosticators in the U. S. Senate. Most recently, he is famous for believing that the troop surge would work in Iraq, when nothing else had worked and very few agreed with him.
Anyway, here he is in this interview, urging, pleading, warning (on deaf ears as it turns out) that we are headed for an economic catastrophe of huge proportions if we do nothing to change the direction.
McCain has his flaws, a lack of courage is not one of them. And so he took on pork barrel spending when only he, the conservative Heritage Foundation and a few liberal journalists were the only ones who expressed outrage. He didn’t end up with many friends in the U. S. Senate or in Washington, where he later took on lobbyists as well, but hey, he is in the running for the presidency.
But even I could have predicted that. It was why I sought him out for this 1991 interview. Hit the link below and take a look at this prophetic excerpt… “inevitably lead to a depression.”
